More occurring storm surges, hurricanes, and rising tides recently have threatened the fluid relationship between the New York City GRID and its edge – the water. Gutter_Grid proposes to not look at the Grid but the fringe encapsulating it. Harmful water is not only flowing into the grid but the combination of heavy rainfall and sewer overflow from the grid, if left untreated, pollutes the harbor. The Gutter_Grid allows the Greastest Grid to overspill in a controlled manner, therefore releasing the current congestion and protecting it from the impacts of changing environments.
